Mr. Holmes is a registered patent attorney with an engineering degree from Brown University and wrote the widely-read treatise on patent licensing entitled Patent Licensing and Selling: Strategy, Negotiation and Forms. Thousands of copies have been purchased and are used by corporations, venture capitalists, inventors, universities and law firms. The publisher, the Practising Law Institute, is a non-profit educational institution founded in 1933 and chartered by the Regents of the University of the State of New York.

Mark Holmes is an active angel investor both as a member of the Band of Angels and Managing Director of Sand Hill Private Investments.
​Mr. Holmes serves as CEO and Co-Founder of RavenWhite Cybersecurity which was selected at the RSA Conference as one of the top 10 cybersecurity startups worldwide.
He was also the Executive in charge of Business Development and a Founder of the DeCaf Company which over a twenty year period tried to develop polymer beads on which caffeine molecules would mechanically adhere to the imprint of a caffeine molecule on a polymer surface.

Mark Holmes earned a double Electrical Engineering and English degree from Brown University, is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the IEEE Computer Society.
He is a registered patent attorney with a JD from Tulane Law School where he served on the Moot Court Board and competed nationally in The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
